Name change for CAP Euro Amsterdam

News on 12 Mar 2009

An announcement by iGaming Business this week constitutes an important step in defusing some of the robust competitive activity and alleged predatory marketing practices in the affiliate conference space. The CAP Euro Amsterdam conference has been taken over by iGaming Business and rebranded The Amsterdam Affiliate Conference…and the event is now open to all affiliates.
The new dispensation will be opening a website this week at Amsterdam Affiliate Conference.com, but the organisational elements remain in the hands of iGaming’s competent organiser, Alex Pratt, and his team.
In a media statement this week, iGaming Business asserts that the metamorphosis is much more than a change of name.
“The Amsterdam Affiliate Conference (AAC) has opened its admission policy to encourage new affiliate attendees by opening its doors to all iGaming affiliates, eliminating requirements of CAP Forum membership as a prerequisite for free attendance,” the statement informs.
“Likewise, all affiliate programs will be charged the same low rate to exhibit and attend. Extending its open door policy, AAC invites affiliate forums, affiliate portals and affiliate organisations to join the show.”
Apparently the beleaguered CAP management which founded and co-produced the original event, will continue to take a positive role, promoting it to CAP’s 8 300 affiliates and affiliate programs. However CAP has decided to relinquish control and instead focus its efforts on developing its portal, forum and online assets, and the events will now be 100 percent managed and produced by co-founder iGaming Business.
“Some great things have however been retained from previous CAP Euro shows,” says Pratt. “The Affiliate Series of Poker will still be a highlight at the show, awarding thousands in prize money to players. There will still be unforgettable parties thrown every night of the event and an open bar following each day of the expo. The show will still be held April 30th – May 2nd, which happens to fall on Holland’s legendary Queens Day – one of the most celebrated street parties in Europe.
“Most importantly, the AAC will continue to bring the foremost experts in the industry into its lecture halls, and the largest number of affiliates into its expo halls. The AAC has assembled SEO experts Dave Naylor, Jason Duke, Marcus Tandler, Bob Rains, Judith Lewis, and Gary Beal to speak in its two SEO panels, and has created a new dedicated FOREX Pavilion. With over 50 exhibitors already confirmed, and 70 exhibitors expected, the AAC offers great networking and business opportunities for affiliates and affiliate managers. With the new expanded entrance and exhibitor policy the AAC is set to be the biggest ever affiliate event.”
The statement does not address what consideration, if any, has been paid to CAP in return for full and independent control of The Amsterdam Affiliate Conference. Its predecessor last year (when there were restrictions on who would be admitted) achieved attendance figures of 1 700.  Assuming that GPWA members, who will now be welcomed, decide to attend, that number could escalate significantly.
