Online gamblers have been anticipating the arrival of French land casino operator Lucien Barriere’s new online casino since the initial announcement in February this year, and now the waiting is over – LeCroupier.com went live this week.
Inspired by Lucien Barrière’s own bricks and mortar casinos, the designers have successfully attempted to replicate online the casino ambience of the world-famous casino in Deauville. “Whatever players find in Deauville, they will find in LeCroupier.com – from the plush furnishings to the range and quality of casino games on the main floor,” a spokesman said in announcing the imminent arrival of the new Internet venue.
The first online casino to utilise next-generation technologies traditionally found in video games, the 3D version of LeCroupier.com claims it offers graphics “twice as advanced” as other casinos currently on the market. A 2D version will also be available through LeCroupier.com following launch . Advanced graphics and software technologies have been used to create a cutting edge venue that includes customised avatars and a host of casino games and player facilities.
Jon Strock, Chief Operating Officer said, “With our 47-year heritage in managing 40 land-based casinos, LeCroupier.com is uniquely positioned to provide the best online casino in the market. Anyone entering LeCroupier.com will be able to immerse themselves in the same fun and sophisticated environment they would enjoy in the real-life Lucien Barrière casino in Deauville.”
With the UK the only market with clear legislation and authorisation of online gambling, a ‘for cash’ version of LeCroupier.com has been launched in the UK. A ‘just for fun’ version will also be available for those aged 18 or over.
The company plans to introduce further games using its proprietary software including poker, betting and a mobile version later in 2009.
Gaming fans using Microsoft’s XBox 360 or Sony Playstation may soon be able to buy a specialised version of LeCroupier, too. Earlier this year, Strock told the electronic gaming media that the 3D online casino is “in active discussions” with one of the two big hitters in home gaming. Strock said that the development of LeCroupier had its potential as a console game very much in mind: “That’s one of our starting points. It was designed for that and we have the game engine in place,” he said.
