Ålands Penningautomatförening (Paf), which offers online gaming services from Åland, an autonomous region of Finland, has appointed a new chief executive officer to replace the present incumbent Lars Porko, who is to retire effective May 1st 2009, but will be available in a consultive capacity until December 2009.
The new appointee is Anders Ingves, the former chief executive of cruise and shipping company Birka Line in the region. Ingves has also had management experience with the Åland’s Tourism Board, the Stockholm advertising company Morgondagen, Posten Åland AB and was at one time deputy chief executive of Ålandsbanken.
“Firstly, it is an extremely interesting company with many exciting minds,” comented Ingves on his new responsibilities. “Paf feels young and has had a rapid growth. Secondly, Paf works in an interesting part of the entertainment industry. I see great potential for growth for the company, even if it will be tough to shoulder Lars Porko’s mantle.
“Through my various assignments and positions, I have learnt that all companies are created by people for people. But the most important thing for leaders is an interest in people.”
Announcing Ingves’ appointment, Paf chairman Jarl Danielsson said: “International expansion and consumer relations are strategically important questions for Paf. After a careful evaluation of a large number of candidates we have concluded that Anders is the most suitable candidate to lead Paf in the future.”
Ingves is no stranger to Paf; he has been on the board of directors for several years.
