The burgeoning Australian operations of online gambling group Betfair show no sign of slowing down, with a new horse racing sponsorship announced this week with the Strathalbyn Racing Club, which becomes the first regional South Australian race club to secure sponsorship with the betting group.
Racenet reports that the partnership takes effect immediately and includes venue and track signage plus naming rights sponsorship of a number of races.
“We’re delighted that Betfair has shown its support for South Australian racing by investing in the future of Strathalbyn,” Strathalbyn Racing Club secretary Sharon Cimarosti told Racenet.
Betfair Chief Executive Officer in Australia Andrew Twaits said Betfair was excited about entering into the arrangement with Strathalbyn.
“It’s our first foray into sponsorship in South Australia and it represents another major milestone in the ongoing growth of our business,” Twaits said. “We’ve always maintained that we’d like to put money back into racing through sponsorship and Strathalbyn provides us with a further opportunity to strengthen our brand in South Australia and across the country.”
First evidence of the sponsorship was seen at Strathalbyn on 22nd April, when Betfair sponsored a number of races on the day’s program.
