Serendipity Investment and satellite gaming channel Eurosport have obtained an Alderney online gaming licence which will enable the partnership to go ahead with plans to launch an online betting service branded Eurosportbet.co.uk.
The partnership will operate from Alderney under the umbrella brand SPS, a company with French and Guernsey offices, and plans to launch operations in the first half of this (2009) year.
Robin Le Prevost, Alderney’s head of e-commerce development, said: “SPS, having chosen to base its new online business in Alderney, speaks volumes about our regime, capabilities and serious business approach. We are pleased to have been chosen.”
“Being granted a full e-gaming licence in Alderney represents a significant step to us as we move forward with our project to launch EurosportBet.co.uk in the UK within the first half of 2009,” said Olivier Ou Ramdane, Chief Executive Officer for SPS.
Sebastien Bougon, Deputy Managing Director for Serendipity said, “We strongly believe that Alderney’s regulatory environment meets the highest international standards in terms of connectivity and security for our future customers. These elements are crucial for our group and motivated our choice to base our new online sportsbetting site in Alderney.”
Eurosport communications director Heather Bowler said that the company plans to build a new pan-European online sportsbetting platform.
