Aideen Shortt, formerly the dynamic VP sales and marketing for Canadian online gambling software developer Chartwell Technology, has moved to Paddy Power subsidiary Airton Risk Management, a sporting risk business where she has been appointed an associate director. She joins a team that includes David Lyons and Rod O’Callaghan.
In her new role Shortt will be responsible for business sales and client development for Airton Risk’s range of products, helping to expand Airton Risk’s base of clients and partners, push new products into the market and forge relationships in new territories and sectors.
Airton Risk Management leverages existing trading and compiling resources, and capitalises on the expertise that comes from managing over Euro 2 billion a year in global sports risk. The firm re-applies the traditional bookmaking skills in a B2B setting, offering large capacity, contract-based, risk management for its clients in myriad sectors from sporting institutions and sponsors seeking to hedge their risk, to retailers seeking to incentivise customer acquisition or retention through sports-based promotions.
“We are extremely pleased to have someone with Aideen’s extensive industry background, solid reputation and broad skill set join the team” said O’Callaghan. “As we focus on the growth and development of our business, especially in advance of the World Cup, Aideen will be a tremendous asset in building our global presence and providing strong strategic guidance within this and other new market areas for our innovative and dynamic business model.”
Shortt is a graduate of University College Cork (Ireland), with a Masters Degree in Marketing from Kingston University (England), and has a wide range of experience working both operator and supplier side in the gambling industry, having previously been employed with flutter.com, Coral Eurobet (now Gala Coral) and Skybet (part of BSkyB) and most recently at software house Chartwell Games Corporation.
“Having worked in the betting and gaming industry for 10 years I know that the Paddy Power group is smart, innovative and forward-thinking, and this risk management division is evidence of all those elements”, said Shortt.
