Eurolinx now a criminal investigation?

Online poker players impacted by the reportedly multi-million dollar failure of Jo Remme’s Eurolinx, Linx Casino, Linx Media and Bet On Bet companies will be heartened to learn that Maltese regulatory officials at the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) have involved the island’s police – and presumably their international contacts – in the enquiry, suggesting that unspecified criminal charges may be pending.
Remme, who is believed to be a Norwegian national, has proved elusive despite efforts by several players who combined to commission a private investigation to track the entrepreneur down. He is also reportedly too short of funds to be a useful target for a civil action, according to some message board postings.
Details are still sketchy on the Linx Media liquidation process involving the failed companies despite several weeks having passed.
The LGA has apparently received a number of complaints, triggering an investigation and leading to the eventual involvement of the police.
On its official website, the LGA has advised: “The company Eurolinks Ltd is not and has never been a licensed operator with the LGA. The LGA also notifies that the sportsbooks of Alpine Malta Ltd (BetonBet and Eurolinx) are not and never were licensed by the LGA.”
Approached by Poker News Daily for comment, the LGA confirmed that it had completed its own investigation and handed the matter over to the police, although it did not specify on what grounds the police had been involved. The regulator said that the results of the police investigation would be made public as soon as these had been completed.
