According to reports in the French newspaper Le Monde, SPS Betting, the operator of Eurosports TV’s online gambling site has been brought under the management control of parent group and industrial giant Bouygues following major management differences at company level.
The Alderney-licensed online gambling enterprise currently operates in the UK but has considerable potential in the soon-to-be liberalised French market. It was launched mid-2009 to compete with the likes of Mangas Gaming, Unibet and Bwin.
Apparently the protracted corporate feuding between founder Patrick Le Lay and another executive, Nonce Paolini at Bouyges subsidiary TF1 has reached a stage where the parent company felt obliged to step in.
Le Monde also reports that Bouygues could be closing a deal which would see SPS Betting joining the French state gambling monopoly Francaise des Jeux and land casino group Barriere in launching an online poker site for the imminent French market.
