Party Gaming plc has confirmed its second major marketing appointment in as many days, announcing that former 888.com vice president of brand marketing, Matt Robinson has been hired in a new role as head of the online gaming company’s UK marketing operations.
He will presumably report to chief marketing officer John Welch, who’s appointment to replace former chief Jon Salmon was announced earlier this week. Gibraltar-based PartyGaming owns a number of brands including PartyPoker, PartyCasino and PartyBingo.
Marketing media in the UK report that Robinson is believed to have been on gardening leave from 888.com since leaving in May 2009. He had been with 888 for more than five years as vice president of brand marketing. During his 888 tenure, Robinson oversaw the launch of the 888 brand and the appointment of Grey London to its GBP 3 million global ad account earlier in the year. Grey recently resigned the account, allegedly over a dispute involving money, and 888 is currently inviting replacement pitches..
According to a 888 spokesman, Robinson, who was responsible for the global branding, offline acquisition, sponsorships and advertiser funded programming, is yet to be replaced.
Party Gaming recently acquired the substantial Cashcade online bingo interests in a GBP 100 million deal.
