Kuala Lumpur police raided five premises in the Jalan Klang Lama area this week, continuing an extensive drive against online gambling in Malaysia.
DSP Razali Abu Samah led the raids and revealed to reporters that 34 men aged 20-50 years-old had been arrested and 102 computers seized, along with cash to the value of RM2 547.
“The premises had been raided several times by police but gambling still persisted. If previously we arrested the premise owners, now we also arrested the gamblers,” the police officer said, adding that police would seek the cooperation of municipal authorities to ensure that water and electricity supplies to the offending premises would be cut off.
