The world’s largest online betting exchange, Betfair, has launched its new in-play betting service for Internet-enabled television sets, opening up new betting opportunities for punters across the world.
The BetfairTV system allows punters to use a slimline version of the famously successful betting exchange alongside live broadcasts. Players use the remote control to place bets in an easy-to-use interactive television application.
Following test broadcasts of this week’s Manchester United v AC Milan game, BetfairTV now intends to expand the service to full operational mode. Industry observers have been generally supportive of the move, saying that the system is safe, responsive and does not distract from watching the match, rather adding to the experience.
Betfair plans to launch the service for other major sports, as well as adding more markets, in the next few months.
