Casinomeister.com attacked

The popular German-based online gambling information portal Casinomeister.com was the target for a distributed denial of services attack over the weekend, but will soon be up and running again says webmaster Bryan Bailey.
DDoS attacks are usually carried out by bots that have been maliciously taken over by criminal elements and bombard the target with so much data that it is technologically overwhelmed and shuts down.
The usual criminal motive for such attackers, who are often subsequently hunted down by international police actions, is to extort money from the victims. This does not appear to be the case in the current incident, but Bailey and his website are highly respected by the player community for warning against rogue operators, and it is easy to speculate that this could be one such questionable company.
Bailey commented Monday: “The site is down at the moment. We were hit by a nasty DDoS attack over the weekend, so we have chosen to move our servers to something more robust.
“It’ll probably take a good 24 hours (fingers crossed it’ll be less than this). Nevertheless, I just wanted everyone to know that everything is good to go. Always seems to happen during the weekends, eh?”
Casinomeister is one of the longest established Internet gambling portals and as been in business since the early days of the industry in the ‘nineties.
