Five Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian women – three of them sisters in their twenties –were arrested in the latest Malaysian police raid on online gambling rings, reports The Star newspaper.
Those arrested were found in an apartment near an industrial park, where officers conducted a successful raid after two weeks of surveillance following complaints by the public.
Police said that the illegal gambling syndicate involved betting of RM 2.4million a month, but did not disclose any further details.
Chief of operations, Supt Maszley Minhad, said police raided the premises about 6.40pm, and revealed that the premises were monitored by closed-circuit television cameras.
Officers seized four lap tops, six facsimile machines, five cell phones and cash, he said.
