Spare a thought for the Canadian lottery punter who went into a Newfoundland convenience store to buy a Cdn$10 ticket. Through a store clerk error it could have been a memorable experience.
The shop clerk mistakenly printed off a ticket costing $27, much higher than the $10 ticket the purchaser wanted.
When asked whether he wanted to take the more expensive ticket, the buyer declined, and the clerk voided the ticket in order to issue one for the right amount.
You guessed it – the voided ticket contained a number that “won” $30 million!
