Picklive, a real-time online fantasy football game, emerged from beta testing this week and is now open to all comers…just in time for the World Cup, which is about to kickoff in South Africa.
The new game takes the traditional fantasy football concept and crams it into 7 and a half minute, action-packed sessions. Players log-on, pick three players for their fantasy team during any live match currently in progress and watch as they earn points based on an “as-it-happens” scoring system.
Substitutions are permitted during the fast and dynamic games, enabling punters to take on a ‘form’ player who may be enjoying a great run.
Players can also structure competitions with friends and their fantasy trios.
Picklive spokesman Tim Morgan says, “Our test phase has gone better than we could ever have hoped for and we are excited about the impact the World Cup will have. Picklive is a totally unique take on fantasy football and offers a chance to play against mates and prove your one-upmanship throughout the match.”
To give players an opportunity to get used to the rapid-fire game play, the games are free until the World Cup begins. After that there will be a GBP 1 for each game, with a chance to win the pot depending on how good your fantasy team is.
