Pursued by opposition members of the Malta Parliament for official government statistics on the value of revenues flowing from the regulation of online gambling, Malta’s finance minister Tony Fenech this week released his statistics.
In 2008 and 2009 the government harvested a total of Euro 79,401,607 in income tax on internet gambling activities on the Mediterranean island, reports the Times of Malta.
Answering a parliamentary question by Labour MP Noel Farrugia, the Finance Minister said the revenue was Euro 26,886,383 in 2008 and Euro 52,515,224 in 2009.
