Frank Potolicchio (34) is the latest defendant in the 44Wager.com online sports betting case to be sentenced, and will serve 4 months behind bars for his involvement in the illegal online sports booking operation based in Stamford and Hamden, Connecticut.
FBI agents involved in investigations into the gambling ring, which they claim was under the control of an organised crime family, said that Potolicchio had been involved in a large-scale booking operation in which gamblers placed bets on offshore gambling websites such as 44wager.com, based in Costa Rica.
The gambling ring in Stamford and Hamden generated nearly $1.7 million in just over a year during 2011.
Potolicchio pleaded guilty in February this year.
