Back in February this year, the major international slot machine manufacturer WMS Gaming Inc set tongues wagging with an announcement that it would enter the UK internet gambling sector by 2011, attracted by the growing stature of the business and encouraging regulatory developments.
The company, together with its gaming terminal business Orion Gaming, is strong on meeting regulatory requirements, and is licensed to sell gaming machines in more than 300 jurisdictions.
Early in 2010, chief executive Brian Gamache, said in a media statement: “WMS will debut its capabilities and solutions that harness the scale of the Internet to pursue online wagering opportunities in the United Kingdom.
“This initiative is expected to launch in fiscal year 2011, subject to regulatory approval, [and] we look forward to expanding our presence in the U.K. marketplace.”
Reports this week that the company is vigorously recruiting IT and creative skills, primarily of relevance to the online gambling milieu, indicate that WMS is quickly closing in on its online objectives.
Recruiters are reportedly seeking an affiliate manager for “an exciting new UK online gaming operation”; creative designers with Flash technology experience; risk analysts and online payment specialists, all for positions in London.
