Online sportsbetting and casino firm 666BET’s shuttering following a separation from the Isle of Man-based Novigroup earlier this week (see previous report) did not last for long; by Saturday morning the site was up and running again with an improved site design.
666BET appears to have managed this rapid resurrection thanks to an acquisition the company made early in September this year, when it bought Metro Play Casino from DMG Media, the consumer media division of British media conglomerate Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT).
Under that agreement, the domain casino.metroplay.co.uk was to remain operational, and 666BET planned to add the company’s Alderney licence to its portfolio. Judging by the footnotes on the new site this has taken place, along with 666 retaining its UK Gambling Commission licence.
Metro Play uses the diverse, multi-software EveryMatrix sports betting and casino platform, and there is speculation that this is the new vehicle on which 666BET has settled.
The new site carries non-working links to three UK football clubs with which the company reportedly has sponsorship partnerships.
A 666BET spokesman said late Friday that many of the issues around the company have been “….completely out of our hands,” but that due to ongoing issues the company could not currently discuss the matter.
He added: “What we can do is tell you we are due to go live on a completely different and much improved platform this evening and all customers funds are safe and sound.”
