It seems that Las Vegas Sands just can’t hire enough lobbyists for owner Sheldon Adelson’s expensive fight to curtail online gambling in the United States by resurrecting the federal Wire Act… whether individual states want it or not.
Washington DC publications reported Wednesday that the latest outfit to join Adelson’s growing army of political influencers is former Republican congressman Connie Mack and his firm Mack Strategies.
Mack’s priority will be supporting the efforts of Senator Lindsey Graham and Rep, Jason Chaffetz to get their Restoration of America’s Wire Act through the federal legislature, effectively strangling online gambling legalisation in the USA.
Since February, Las Vegas Sands has hired The Keelen Group, Capitol Counsel, Lincoln Policy Group and Steptoe & Johnson, according to Senate lobbying records. The company also registered with Husch Blackwell, and spent $200,000 across five firms in the first quarter of the year (see previous reports).
