The American Gaming Association continued its drive for the wider legalisation of sports betting in the United States Tuesday, leveraging interest in the upcoming Super Bowl final by publishing some telling statistics via Twitter and noting:
“Only about $132M will be wagered legally through sports books by kick-off, $4.5B placed illegally [via Vegas sportsbooks]”
The Association notes in a graphic that there has been an 11 percent year-on-year rise in Super Bowl betting in 2017, and that 97 percent of wagers are being made illegally.
