Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has clarified that his government’s proposed ban on all gambling from December 31st will include online activity.
Following opposition claims that Rama’s brother would circumvent a retail betting ban by operating an online monopoly, Rama said this week:
“The opposition says that my brother will keep the bets. The truth is that all bets will be closed. We will also block online bets coming from abroad. We are talking about millions. We will see how it goes”,
Rama has advised the Parliamentary Commission of Economy that betting shops will be closed on December 31st and that there will be no online monopoly.
