Alberta the eighth Canadian province to embrace online gambling?

The launch this week of Ontario’s regulated online gambling website PlayOLG.ca (see previous reports) has triggered renewed media interest on the topic and speculation that Alberta may become the eighth Canadian province to embrace online gambling.

Approached by local media for comment on the issue, a spokesperson for the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) said the commission is examining the possibility of creating an online gaming portal in Alberta, but declined to provide details on what progress has been made.
