One of the oldest and most popular Mexican variants of bingo, Loteria, has been developed by Trimark as a real-money online game and launched via the Odobo Marketplace this week.
The online version retains hallmarks of the physical game such as richly decorated playing cards featuring traditional icons and symbols that include iconic and romanticised images that give the player insight into Mexican life via puns, riddles and beautifully crafted artwork.
Scenes include gastronomic motifs such as churros, religious symbols and those that offer a satirical or philosophical view on life.
Loterias, originally a game played by upper classes of society, is still played with only minor differences by tens of millions of players and features a 54-card deck. Players strive to match the pictures on a ticket showing a pre-defined sequence of images as the caller draws them from the pack.
Odobo’s Rob Smith said this week in launching the new game on Marketplace: “Trimark’s Lotería is a fusion between the game’s multiple-century heritage and the power of Odobo’s state-of-the-art technology. We’re thrilled to be offering this game exclusively via the Odobo Marketplace.”
