The Italian ANSA news agency has just published a brief report revealing that the police in Catania have arrested 13 people today (Wednesday) as part of a widespread operation against a nation-wide online gambling ring that allegedly generated business worth Euro 10 million a month.
The police operation covered 19 Italian cities, probed 107 people and resulted in raids on 46 venues, ANSA sources revealed.
Police claim that the betting ring was managed out of Catania by two unlicensed criminal organisations which operated through seven (at this stage unidenfied) gambling websites hosted in Malta.
Our readers will recall that earlier this year a similar major bust included investigations in Malta (see previous reports).
