Officers from the Paphos crime prevention unit in Cyprus busted an illegal online gambling enterprise in Peyia on Thursday, seizing 12 computer sets and other evidence, a spokesman revealed Friday.
“Twelve computers were seized yesterday during a search carried out in Paphos yesterday as part of the campaign to combat online gambling,” the spokesman said.
“Members of the Paphos crime prevention unit conducted, on the basis of a court order, a search of premises in Paphos, between the hours of 11pm and 1.15 am today. During the investigation, they discovered 12 computers which were in operation, with their screens displaying games of chance.”
Police told the Cyprus Mail no arrests were made in connection with the activities being carried out on the premises pending forensic testing on the confiscated machines.
