Charles Coppolani, President of the French Online Gaming Regulatory Authority (ARJEL) and Thierry Pujol, Director of Sport Integrity at Française des Jeux (FDJ) and Vice-President of the Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS), have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in which they will collaborate in the fight to preserve integrity in sports.
Utilizing ARJEL’s recently launched national platform to Combat the Manipulation of Sports Competitions and FDJ’s / GLMS’ sports betting monitoring systems, the organizations have agreed to exchange information on suspicious betting activity, scrutinize atypical betting volumes, assess geographical distribution and probable outcomes.
In related news, twelve European countries, known as The Copenhagen Group, met in Paris at the end of last month to discuss and agree the creation, implementation and collaboration of national platforms to tackle the scourge.
The group met at the end of March to discuss preparations and oversight of the World Hockey Ice Hockey Championship, currently underway in Paris and Cologne.
