The Armenian government has moved on tightening up gambling regulations following weeks of industry speculation that moves were afoot.
The new regulations mainly impact marketing and advertising, restricting the latter to licensed and regulated operators in the country, and requiring that all advertising and promotion be targeted on citizens no younger than 21 years of age.
There are also limitations on radio and television advertising, which is now confined to between the hours of 22h00 and 06h00.
Authorities have pledged strict enforcement, and non-compliance will be met with punitive financial penalties.
The government has also restricted lottery activity to special city zones Tsakhkadzor, Sevan, Jermuk, and Meghri, where various land resort expansion activity is planned.
