Asian distributor QTech Games has announced a new acquisition deal, which sees the company take a majority share in rising-star Swedish video slots development studio Snowborn Games.
After a successful 2017 of triple-digit growth, and enhancing the speed and performance of games on its platform, QTech has broadened its global reach in 2018 with a series of new deals and tools, and taking a controlling stake in Sweden’s emerging video slots provider is the next step in this evolution, the company said in a statement Thursday.
The next video slots off Snowborn Games’ production line will all be exclusively available via QTech Games’ platform, the statement reveals.
Jonas Alm, QTech Games’ CEO, said: “Snowborn Games is currently putting the finishing touches to their initial gaming portfolio which I have no doubt will prove hugely successful. It’s the next phase in our goal to become the largest provider of digital entertainment in Asia over the next few years. We are presently very active in this space, looking to enlist small gaming studios with big ideas that can become a part of our developing QTech family.”
Magnus Palmstierna Eckhell, CEO of Snowborn Games, added: “The combination of QTech Games’ distribution model, coupled to Snowborn’s creative content, forms a knockout combination.
“We now have a majority partner whose distributional scope can facilitate our transition into a world-class studio. We believe our upcoming games will be a great complement to their platform, as this deal allows us to continue our growth into untapped markets.”
