Aspers casino in London has reported that its inaugural Cash Game Festival from March 30 to April 3 was a notable success, with over 20 tables fully occupied for much of the time as poker fans responded to the opportunity to compete in no-limit hold’em, dealer’s choice, pot-limit Omaha, six-plus hold’em, and open-face Chinese poker games with stakes between GBP1/GBP1 and GBP25/GBP50.
The two biggest pots were for GBP 20,000 on a GBP25/GBP50 NLHE table, which was won by Spanish pro Javier Perez Estevez in an exciting run-it-twice finale involving two other players, and a GBP18,000 pot taken by Romanian player Vasile Cosmin Stancu.
Live streaming of the action took place each day on the Cash Games Festival Twitch channel and attracted a sizeable audience and more players to the venue.
Marketing and gaming consultant Warren Lush pointed out in a press statement that the festival concept was good for operators as well as players:
“Where I think it is very good for the operator, is compared to a festival of tournaments, an operator makes more money off cash games, so it makes business sense,” he said.
Malta is the next venue for the Cash Game Festival, which is scheduled for 8 to 12 June this year.
