Thanks to more clement weather this August, troubled Atlantic City casinos managed to increase revenues by 12.6 percent last month…but the comparison could be misleading, bearing in mind that last August was beset with wild weather as Hurricane Irene lashed the coast, deterring gamblers and shutting down casinos for three days.
Atlantic City as a whole saw its 12 casinos bring in $226.1 million at slots last month, up 16.8 percent from a year ago, and $87.8 million at table games, up 3.3 percent from August 2011.
