Latest gambling numbers released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement for the month of May 2012 show another disappointing decline for Atlantic City, down 9.5 percent to $263 million.
Hopes that the new Revel casino resort would lift revenues went unrealised; revenues at the $2.4 billion enterprise in May totalled $13.9 million, ranking it eighth out of the city’s 12 casinos, although it was an improvement on April’s $13.4 million contribution.
In April, Atlantic City revenues slipped 10 percent compared with the same month last year, whilst in March, revenues were down 5 percent compared with the same period last year.
In a positive sign for the industry, the DGE released quarterly figures that showed the gross operating profit for all 12 casinos, which includes non-gambling revenue, was up 17 percent compared with the same period last year.
