The Australian online betting site Ubet (formerly TattsBet) has revived its successful UBet We Can advertising campaign with some amusing social video adverts ostensibly advising online punters on how to placate their wives and partners by earning “brownie points” in order to escape to games.
The publication Mumbrella reports that the new 90 second social video features former AFL star Jonathan Brown giving tips to one fan on how he can earn points by doing romantic or useful things “so nobody misses out on game day”.
“It happens this time every year, you’ve been on the long leash watching every game when suddenly you’re on the bench,” he says, suggesting tasks such as “raking the garden” or “lobbing a few choccies in the pie hole.”
Whilst some women have bridled at the portrayal of the woman in the vid as a killjoy, Ubet brand manager Penny Glasson says the campaigns are a “clever way to connect with punters and put Ubet in the conversation, without shouting over competitors with more offers and promotions.
“We all know blokes who go to great lengths to earn their ‘leave passes’ during footy season. We’ve just captured that and made it a funny piece of content that Ubet can own,” she says.
