Aussie political commentator ties Sportsbet in knots

With Aussie political elections in full swing, the online sports betting operator Sportsbet offered a market on what colour tie 9 News television political commentator Laurie Oakes would wear…but the prop bet backfired heavily when Oakes changed his tie six times during a broadcast, forcing the gambling company to admit defeat with good grace and pay out the punters.

Oakes created a minor local media stir with his troll, but merely commented:

‘I thought well why should anyone miss out? So I wore all six colours.’ He added tongue in cheek: ‘I like to think of myself as the punter’s protector.’
