New research from the independent research firm Roy Morgan Gambling Monitor claims that in 2013 over 3.5 million Australians aged over 18 placed a bet of some kind… and 21 percent of them – or 758,000 people – did so online.
This represents a substantial increase from three years ago, when online punters made up 14 percent of Australia’s betting population, ABC News reports.
Morgan reports that in the last 12 months, 17 percent of punters used a personal computer or laptop to make a bet; eight percent used a mobile phone; three percent used a tablet computer or iPad, and one percent used internet-enabled TV.
