The complicated and much delayed court trial on insider trading charges against former Amaya chief executive David Baazov and alleged associates has been further postponed to April 16 this year, according to Quebec media reports Thursday.
Originally scheduled for hearing in December, tactical legal arguments ensured the case was delayed until February 26 so that all parties had sufficient time to study a mass of documentation.
Defence lawyers also complained at the length of time it took Quebec’s financial regulator AMF to bring the matter before the courts.
Baazov and alleged associates Benjamin Ahdoot and Yoel Altman face 23 insider trading charges before Judge Salvatore Mascia.
