The Belgian Gaming Commission revealed Saturday that there has been a more than three-fold increase since last year in problem gamblers requesting self-exclusion at Belgian gambling venues.
Over 14,000 Belgian punters have filed an official request to ban them from visiting casinos and gaming centres, the country’s gambling commission said in a statement.
Last year there were 4,000 self-exclusion requests.
Under Belgian Gambling law implemented in January 2011, problem gamblers can also be banned from attending gambling venues at the request of their doctors or family members.
