The latest Sunday Times Rich List in the UK shows that the Coates family – owners of online gambling group bet365 – have continued to prosper since last year and have now moved into the Top 25 list, having boosted the family fortune by GBP 1.4 billion since last year to GBP 3.8 billion.
That makes Denise and brother John (joint CEOs of the group), and father Peter (who serves as chairman) the 24th wealthiest family in Britain, and the most successful digital enterprise owners in the country.
The list reveals that bet365 reported upwards of GBP 400 million in profit in fiscal 2015, with founder Denise the biggest shareholder at 50 percent, but the family controlling 93 percent of parent bet365 Holdings.
The family’s closest digital rival is Mark Scheinberg former owner of PokerStars parent The Rational Group, with a fortune of GBP 2.9 billion, followed by Playtech principal shareholder Teddy Sagi on GBP 2.5 billion.
Siblings Peter and Fred Done, owners of Betfred, are further down the list at 82nd with a still-growing combined fortune of GBP 1.3 billion – up GBP 300 million on last year.
