The Betclic Everest group has augmented its Portuguese online sportsbetting licence with an online casino licence, bringing to four the number of operators licensed by regulator Serviço Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos do Turismo de Portugal since the market was liberalised earlier this year (see previous reports)
There has not exactly been a rush to licence in the new online jurisdiction due to operator concerns regarding high tax rates and government indecision regarding the opening up of the current ring-fenced online poker market.
Betclic’s latest licence has been issued to the company’s Portuguese subsidiary BEM Operations, which will manage the Betclic.pt website.
