The UK’s Kempton Park Racecourse has signed a six-figure, year long deal with Irish-based betting exchange BETDAQ.
Under the agreement, BETDAQ will support midweek Flat racing on the all-weather floodlit racetrack, sponsor no fewer than 176 races over the next year, a ground floor bar facility will be named after the betting exchange and its account holders will receive complimentary entry to Wednesday night fixtures for the duration of the deal.
Kempton Park managing director Amy Starkey said: “We are delighted to have come to this agreement with a high profile betting exchange in BETDAQ which is demonstrating its continuing commitment to British horse racing, and we look forward to an ongoing partnership.”
BETDAQ marketing director Shane McLaughlin said: “BETDAQ has been a consistent supporter of British horse racing throughout our 10 year history and we are delighted to continue that support with this sponsorship.”
In related news, Australian media are reporting that online betting and gaming firm Centrebet are poised to receive naming rights to the Australian Rugby League Club Penrith Panthers stadium. The proposed renaming of the stadium to Centrebet Stadium has been met with criticism and opposition from the Penrith Council and other anti-gambling lobbyists.
Alan Stoneham, Penrith Council General Manager confirmed that the club’s decision has been frowned upon by the Council and its disapproval had been conveyed to the Club even though they have no authority to intervene and the club does not require naming rights approval from the council.
