Betfair cleared for continues New Jersey operation

Online gambling group Betfair will be permitted to continue operating online in New Jersey when its partner, Trump Plaza, shuts down later this month, says the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
Bloomberg business news reports that the DGE has signed an order allowing the company to continue operating its online casino while its land-based partner winds down on September 16.
“The division will consider input from all involved parties to ensure a smooth transition as Trump Plaza winds down its operations and as Betfair continues its Igaming operations in the state,” David Rebuck, director of New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement, told the news agency.
New Jersey regulations require online gambling operations to be licensed under an Atlantic City land operator, an arrangement which has seen AC land casinos partnered up with experienced European online gambling operators like Betfair.
Presumably Betfair will be searching for a replacement partner, although the DGE does not appear to have put a time limit on how long it can operate as a special case without a land operator as a partner.
