Betfair has agreed a two-year sponsorship deal, with an option to renew for a third, with German football club Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen finished fifth in last year’s Bundesliga.
Under the terms of the deal, Betfair will benefit from a branding presence at the Bay Arena, advertising on pitchside boards and involvement in other promotional activities.
Wolfgang Holzhäuser, managing director of Bayer Leverkusen said: “The betting exchange is absolutely unique in the gambling sector in the same way we are the only Werkself in the Bundesliga.”
Dr Peter Reinhardt, Betfair’s head of central Europe, added: “Following on from our involvement with Barcelona and Manchester United, it’s a special move for us at Betfair to enter and position ourselves in the Bundesliga.”
German former international football striker, a former manager of the German national team and currently Leverkusen’s sporting director Rudi Völler has become Betfair’s latest brand ambassador.
