Brand Republic reports the end of Blue Square Bet’s six-year sponsorship of the Football Conference following completion of the acquisition of specific assets of Blue Square by Betfair at a cost of GBP 5 million.
The Football League and the Football Conference find themselves without a headline sponsor for the 2013/14 season from the end of next month but said it was in negotiations with a number of potential sponsors.
The Football Conference is a football league in England consisting of three divisions called Conference National, Conference North, and Conference South. It stands at the top of the National League System (NLS), a comprehensive structure linking together over 50 different leagues under the auspices of The Football Association.
As part of its sponsorship deal with Blue Square Bet, Conference National is currently known as the Blue Square Bet Premier and the tiers below as Blue Square Bet North and Blue Square Bet South.
Brian Lee, chairman of the Football Conference commended Blue Square for honouring the agreement “in each and every clause” over the past six years.
