Premier League football club Manchester City has announced that its new official betting partner and sponsor for both the men’s and women’s teams is online gambling operator Betsafe.
“Through in-stadia initiatives, including betting kiosks, fan activations at the Etihad Stadium, access to exclusive behind the scenes footage, LED advertising and an online presence as the club’s official betting partner, Betsafe and Manchester City FC will work together to continuously enhance the partnership,” a statement from the club revealed.
Omar Berrada, commercial director of City Football Marketing, said Thursday: “We look forward to working with Betsafe to provide fans with even more unforgettable football experiences with both our Men’s and Women’s teams.”
The announcement comes after an earlier announcement by the football club that it has achieved a profit for the first time since Sheikh Mansour’s 2008 takeover. The club posted a profit of GBP 10.7million on record revenues of GBP 352 million.
Betsafe already sponsors German Bundesliga club FC Köln, but the company’s brand manager, Martina Brynielsson, said this was Betsafe’s first significant foray into UK partnerships, implying there may be more to follow.
In related news, GVC Holdings subsidiary Sportingbet has inked a sponsorship deal with Turkish Airlines EuroLeague basketball in Greece, where the sports betting company has a strong presence through Centric Multimedia SA.
