Betstars beta launched in France

The Amaya online gambling group has made its much-anticipated move into the French online sports betting sector, launching in beta-test mode its Betstars.fr site along with iOS and Android mobile apps through sister PokerStars.fr’s desktop client.

Betstars is currently offering betting on seven sports with more to come in the near future, including in-play wagering.

In a statement this week announcing the move, Amaya communications chief Eric Hollreiser said that the launch provides French punters with safe and fair sports wagering facilities.

“As we roll out our offering in different countries, we can see that the crossover between poker players and sports bettors is strong,” he added.

The French launch comes as the Euro 2016 football fever rises across Europe, with several matches already played.
