Industry visitors to the recent TVC Bookmakers Trade Fair in Solihull, UK were much taken by Spanish betting technology firm Optima Information Services’ iShop product, and the company went on to win the SBC Best Retail Betting Product award with it last month.
Betting shop operators and the public at large will have another opportunity to see iShop in action again next month, when Optima will be demonstrating its virtues at the ICE Totally Gaming show in London.
The product represents a new engagement channel, allowing punters to bet on their own mobile devices whilst on retail premises with no need for registration or even an account; the customer simply connects to the iShop wirelessly and places his or her bet.
From the operator’s perspective the facility is quickly installed without disrupting normal operations, increases the volume of in-play betting without the need for terminals, SST or additional computer ware, and enables bookmakers to lay their own prices and supply events from their own data feeds. Optima also has a commercial data model in the product line.
The convenience and speed of installation means that iShop can be deployed across numerous shops in hours rather than days, all without disturbing conventional bookmaking activity.
This is Optima’s third year at ICE, bringing a growing range of innovative multi-channel products designed to drive revenue, improve player service and cut costs across a full range of markets.
Other than iShop, the company will this year be showcasing its EPOS serverless retail betting system; the superfast Poseidon application user experience and data real time delivery system; real-time business intelligence, promotion and reporting products; and products that have proved successful in emerging and newly regulated markets in Eastern Europe and Africa.
As usual, the Optima stand will be manned by experts from the company ready to discuss the technologies and products on display.
