Betway, a major European online betting company, has announced a deal to sponsor Trinity Mirror’s Fantasy Football platform for the next three years as part of a substantial UK wide media campaign.
The sponsorship package will see the Mirror Fantasy Football branded with the Betway logo and will enable players to claim special offers, such as registering their first team completely free.
Prizes range from GBP 500 to GBP 25,000, with a total prize fund of GBP 100,000. Players can enter four additional teams for every GBP 10 bet placed with Betway.com. Registered users are also allocated an extra free team every month.
The campaign, the first in a planned series of UK profile raising initiatives by Betway, is timed to coincide with the start of the football season.
For Betway, which has more than 1.5 million players globally, the deal is its first significant UK sponsorship and gives the users of Trinity Mirror’s newspaper websites direct access to its online betting services.
Trinity Mirror’s sites included in the deal are Mirror Online, Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo, Newcastle Chronicle, Birmingham Mail and Wales Online.
Richard Akitt, managing director of Betway Group, said: “We believe we have the fastest, most innovative and easy-to-use fantasy football game in the market. Our site enables customers to update their fantasy football team and place bets all within the same site. In addition, for the first time it is possible for players to create their first team for free.
“We are planning a series of high profile promotions over the coming months that will engage the football fans and punters.”
Chris Ellis, managing director, Trinity Mirror Digital, said: “This partnership further demonstrates our on-going commitment to produce and develop premium digital products.”
