Online bookmaker Betway has agreed a two-year deal to become the official shirt sponsor of Spanish La Liga side Levante U.D.
Nicknamed ‘Granotas’ (The Frogs), Levante U.D were founded more than 100 years ago and finished 15th in La Liga last season, with the highlight a 5-4 victory against champions Barcelona.
Betway has been the principal sponsor of English Premier League side West Ham United since 2015 and this is the second Spanish sponsorship in their portfolio following a deal with C.D. Leganés earlier this year (see previous report).
Already a betting partner of Bundesliga club Werder Bremen and Belgian champions RSC Anderlecht, the deal enhances the online gambling company’s reach throughout Europe.
Betway’s Anthony Werkman, said in a statement Tuesday: “The season is fast approaching and we are delighted to have agreed a deal with Levante U.D ahead of yet another exciting La Liga campaign.
“We’re always looking for ways to extend the reach of the Betway brand throughout Europe and this is a great opportunity to do just that. Levante U.D is a club steeped in history and we look forward to a successful partnership.”
President of Levante Union Deportiva, Francisco Javier Catalan Vena, said: “We have a continued ambition to grow over the next two years in La Liga and at the same time look forward to this partnership helping Betway to grow in Spain.”
