The Telegraph newspaper ended the week with a study of the current state of play in the dispute over the size of the next horse racing levy, noting that government intervention may ultimately be necessary to bridge the chasm between what the horse racing industry wants – around £150 million – and what Brit bookmaking firms are prepared to contribute…some £62 million.
With the deadline for settlement, October 31, looming the issue is assuming increasing importance with little sign of agreement so far.
