The daily fantasy sport operator Boom Fantasy has been awarded approval to operate in New York under the state’s year-old DFS legalisation legislation.
The approval came with a little push from state Sen. John Bonacic, who reportedly endorsed the operator to the New York States Gaming Commission.
Boom CEDO Stephen Murphy said in a statement this week that his company is offering a different approach to the traditional DFS salary-cap style competitions.
“It’s no secret that the DFS industry has been starved for innovation,” he said. “The basic format of salary-cap contests hasn’t changed in 10 years. “This permit, which we received after a comprehensive regulatory review by the New York State Gaming Commission, proves that there are fun, innovative ways to legally offer DFS contests that other operators have ignored.”
Earlier this year Boom Fantasy raised $2 million in a funding round (see previous reports).
